Four Gate was born in 2018 with a single ambition: to elevate the whiskey experience by marrying exceptional barrels from every corner of the world.
We track down exceptional straight bourbon and rye, keep only the best, and finish it in rare barrels that once held sherry, port, rum or cognac. Every bottle is barrel proof and non-chill filtered, exactly as the barrel gave it.
Our first batch arrived in April 2019. More than thirty have followed, each one numbered, each one its own, and none will be made again.
The name
Named for a Kentucky icon
Drive through the heart of the Bluegrass and you’ll follow it for miles: the four-rail fence, painted white or black, rising and falling with the hills around the great thoroughbred farms. Kentuckians call it four gate. It is as much a part of this place as the horses it keeps.
It runs across every label we print — a piece of the Bluegrass in every bottle.
